The Lead: The Hollins University riding team embarked on a new era with a trip to the University of South Carolina for their first National College Equestrian Association (NCEA) event. The storied equestrian program joined the NCEA during the off season and first was a trip to the defending National Champions for their inaugural NCEA matchup. Hollins took a 4-1 lead after the Fences before a 4-1 Gamecock rally on the Flat would see the event end in a 5-5 tie. In accordance with NCEA rules, meets involving dual discipline teams competing against single discipline teams will not count towards overall team records. Individual rider statistics will count.

Highlights 

• Grace Margaret Trahnstrom scored 84 points aboard Q for a two-point win over the Fences. On the Flat, the junior scored 78 points in her debut.
• Lauren Williams rode Rio to a one-point win with a score of 80 points before recording 63 points on the Flat.
• First year Nora Robbins won 78-76 over Fences, earning another point for HU. On the Flat, Robbins scored 81 aboard Dento.
• Fellow first-year Olivia Aul earned her point over the Fences with a 75-74 win riding Marty. On the Flat, Aul recorded the highest point total of 84 on the Flat.
• After falling 79-70 over Fences, Juliana Guggino would earn the fifth point to tie the match with an 80-78 win aboard Nino in the final head-to-head matchup of the event.
• Trahnstrom was named the events Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for being the highest point scorer for Hollins. 

Up Next: Hollins is right back in action when they go head-to-head with The University of the South. Hollins and Sewanee will complete the first portion of the event this afternoon before wrapping up the second portion tomorrow morning at the One Wood Farm.
