The Lead: Friday marked the home opener for the Hollins tennis team that looked to defend her home courts at the Batten Tennis Center for the first time this spring. The shorthanded Green and Gold squad would take the courts with just four players due to academic obligations. The doubles point would go to the visiting Wildcats from Johnson & Wales. Hollins enjoyed early advantages in two of the four singles matches before ultimately falling to their guests from North Carolina, 7-0.
Highlights:
- Playing up a spot at #2 doubles, Jade Thompson and Sadie Henshaw stayed in the match throughout, falling 6-3.
- The #1 duo of Rachel Hull and Zilina Robinson-Knox won the opening game but couldn't sustain the momentum, J&W prevailed, 6-1.
- In just her second collegiate match, Thompson would lead early at #3 singles before a Wildcat rally took the point with a 6-3 and 6-1 victory.
- Hull (#1) and Henshaw (#4) fell by identical 6-2 and 6-0 scores.
