The Lead:Â The Hollins volleyball team made the short trip to Salem to take on Roanoke College on Tuesday night. The Green and Gold brought a two-match win streak into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup against the Maroons. Roanoke used a 12-5 kill advantage in taking a 1-0 lead. The Maroons continued to enjoy the better of the net play on their way to picking up the, 3-0, ODAC win.
HighlightsÂ
- Hollins fell to the Maroons 10-25, 14-25, 14-25.
- Roanoke finished the night with 39 kills versus just 21 for the visitors from Hollins. 13 Maroon service aces would give RC 13-4 edge behind the service line.
- Sophia Maurer paced Hollins with seven kills, two blocks, and five digs. The HU trio of Aliyah Lightsey, Cassidy Henderson, and Ivy Collins each recorded four kills.
- Rachel Hull handed out 11 assists and Anisia Dean helped on five HU points. Konner Myers led the back row with seven digs with Collins taking part in three of Hollins four blocks.
Up Next: Hollins continues ODAC play this weekend, starting with a trip to Eastern Mennonite on Friday night for a 6:30pm start with the Royals.
