The Lead: For the final time during the 2024-25 season, the Hollins basketball team took the court when they made the trip to Greensboro to face Guilford on the final day of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. Hollins got a much better start than they did 17 days ago against the Quakers and took a 14-8 lead into the second quarter. The Quakers caught fire and stormed back to take the lead into the half. HU could not mount a rally and fell to Guilford for the second time this season, 47-79.

Highlights
  • Back-to-back three-pointers by Zaria Holden and Ariana Gutierrez gave Hollins an early 6-2 advantage. Leading by two, Cabria Mutz and Sarah Morales closed the quarter with buckets to make it 14-8 after one period of play.
  • An 8-2 surge by the home team would tie the score at 16-16. The teams would trade the lead with a 3-pointer by Missy Hazard and free throws by Holden giving Hollins a 23-22 edge. However, Guilford closed the final 2:30 on a 10-0 run to take a nine-point lead into the break.
  • A 14-0 surge by the Quakers coming out of the locker room would be too much for HU to overcome. Grayson Alfon hit a jumper from long range to stop the run, but Guilford had built a 20-point advantage.
  • Kinzie Henninger capped a 9-4 Hollins run mid-way through the fourth quarter, but Hollins couldn't get any closer and fell to 12-12 on the season.
  • Mutz scored 12 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals int eh final game of her Hollins career. Alfano hit a pair of three-pointers on her way to 10 points and five rebounds off the bench. Morales added nine points, five boards, and four assists while Holden finished with eight points, three assists, and three steals.
  • Mutz finished the season with 81 blocked shots, the 2nd most in NCAA DIII and tops in the ODAC.
  • The 12-12 season for Hollins marked the first non-losing season for the program in the NCAA era and matched the most program wins in that same time frame (1981-82 was the first season that the NCAA sponsored a National Championship in women's basketball).
