The Basics
Score:
 Hollins 1 | Randolph-Macon 3
Records: Hollins 8-10 / 0-5 ODAC | Yellow Jackets 9-3 / 4-1 ODAC

The Lead: Friday night marked the first of two matches in a less than 24-hour span for the Hollins volleyball team. The Green and Gold took on a Randolph-Macon team coming in off a loss while Hollins went searching for their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win of the season. After falling in the first two sets by the identical score of 22-25, HU rallied to win the third (25-21) to extend the match. Trailing by five, a Hollins rally made it 21-23, but the rally stalled as RMC took two of the next three points to seal the win, 3-1.

Highlights
  • Hollins fell to the Jackets 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25.
  • The Green and Gold took advantage of 19 Randolph-Macon service errors to stay close throughout the match. The Yellow Jackets used a 53-39 edge at the net to survive the Hollins rally.
  • Sophia Maurer led Hollins with nine kills, five service aces, four blocks, and 13 digs.
  • Alyssa Reed had eight kills while Cassidy Henderson and Ivy Collins had seven with Aliyah Lightsey recording six. Reed, Anisia Dean, and Rachel Hull each served a pair of aces and Konner Myers led the team with 16 digs.
  • Hull (18) and Dean (10) each handed out double-digit assists. Norah Madrey matched Maurer with four blocks while Henderson and Collins each had three.
Up Next: Hollins returns to action tomorrow morning at 10:00am when they host Virginia Wesleyan University. The Marlins are currently ranked 22nd in the nation according to the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll.
