The Lead: Hollins played a pair of matches on the second, and final, day of the St. Vincent Bearcat Challenge. The hosts from Latrobe would win the final three points of the opening set on their way to a 3-0 win over the Green and Gold. In the finale, Hollins faced Bethany looking to even their tournament mark at 2-2. However, the Bison took advantage of a weary HU squad, playing back-to-back, and took the match, 3-0.

Highlights 
  • Hollins fell to St. Vincent 22-25, 17-25, 15-25.
  • Tailing by two points in the opening set, Peyton Bartholow served a pair of aces to tie the score at 22-22 before seeing their hosts score three straight to seize control.
  • Sophia Maurer and Aliyah Lightsey each recorded four kills with Maurer and Bartholow serving three aces apiece. Anisia Dean handed out 10 assists.
  • Defensively, Lightsey had two blocks, and Maurer led the back row with 10 digs.
  • Bethany bested Hollins 16-25, 8-25, 22-25.
  • Cassidy Henderson paced HU with eight kills while Alyssa Reed added five. Rachel Hull assisted on 12 net points and served a pair of aces.
  • Reed (9) and Maurer (8) led the team in digs.
  • After a solid all-around four matches, Maurer was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Up Next: Next Friday, Hollins makes the short trip to Salem to play in the 2024 Maroon Classic, hosted by Roanoke College.
