The Lead:Â The Hollins volleyball team took to the court for the final time during the regular season when they hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian in a non-conference match. The Green and Gold used 16 first set kills to take command of the matchup. Leading 1-0, Hollins found themselves in a 23-23 tie before taking back-to-back points to lead 2-0. The third was all home team as Hollins wrapped up the 2024 campaign with a three-set sweep of the Mustangs.
HighlightsÂ
- Hollins defeated MACU 25-10, 25-23, 25-13.
- Tied 23-23 in the second set, a service error and Sophia Maurer kill gave HU the 2-0 lead.
- In the finale, Hollins led 9-8 before another Maurer kill gave the junior the serve. With Maurer, the ODAC leader in service aces behind the line, HU scored 11 straight points to put the match away. During the run, Maurer recorded her league leading 53rd service ace while Alyssa Reed recorded four kills.
- Reed finished with 16 kills, the most of her first-year campaign. Maurer added 10 while Cassidy Henderson finished with nine.
- Rachel Hull assisted on 35 of the team's 41 winning attacks. Maurer added 18 digs, four assists, and four service aces. Reed's .417 hitting percentage was the outside hitters highest total of the season.
