The Lead: Hollins got the 2023 spring season started with a trip to Salem College on Saturday afternoon. The makeup match, originally scheduled for last weekend, was the first for Hollins after a 1-1 fall season. Hollins would take two of the three doubles matches and carry that momentum into the singles matchups. At the end of the match, the Green and Gold would notch their first win of the spring, 7-2.
Highlights:

• Jessica Willebeek-LeMair and Millie Shaw picked up an 8-1 win at #1 Doubles. Peyton Jones and Charlie Miller won, 8-2, at the #2 spot to give Hollins a 2-1 lead.
• Willebeek-LeMair and Shaw would add individual wins. At #1, Jessica won 6-3 and 6-0 while Shaw picked up a win at #2, 6-0 and 7-5.
• Jones made it a sweep of the top three spots with a 6-2 and 6-0 victory at the #3 spot.
• #5 Singles would see Carlia Kearney win 6-1 and 7-5 with Mei Shalaby winning at #6. Shalaby won the opener 6-4 before falling by the identical score to force a third and decisive set. 10-4 would be the final tally as Shalaby wrapped up the afternoon giving the Green and Gold the 7-2 win.

Up Next: Hollins will be back in action on Tuesday when they get back into Old Dominion athletic conference action with a trip to Guilford.
