The Lead:Â After kicking off the spring campaign with a win at Salem College, Hollins returned to North Carolina on Tuesday to face Guilford College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The match would be tied at 4-4 with one match left to be decided. Hollins would rally from a 0-1 score to take the net two sets and seal the ODAC win just before nightfall.
Highlights:
- The deciding point would come at #4 Singles when Carlia Kearney dropped the opening set 7-6 by a score of 7-4 in the tiebreaker. Kearney won the second frame 6-4 and finished off the match with a clinching 6-2 win in the third set.
- HU would fall behind 2-1 in the Doubles round.
- Jessica Willebeek-LeMair won at the top Singles spot with a 6-4 and 6-4 win.
- Claire Vasek allowed Hollins to tie the match with a 6-1 and 6-3 win at #5 Singles.
Up Next:Â Hollins is scheduled to host their first match of the season on Friday when Lynchburg comes to town for a 3:00pm start.
