The Lead:Â For the final time this season, the Hollins volleyball defended her home court when Trinity (D.C.) came to Roanoke for a Saturday afternoon match. Hollins would seize control early with a multitude of service aces in the opening set to take a 1-0 lead. The Green and Gold would continue to dominate the service line, 32 for the match, on their way to a season ending win, 3-0.
HighlightsÂ
- Hollins defeated the Tigers: 25-7, 25-10, 25-3.
- HU used a 14-0 run, fueled by eight Faith Schaefer aces, to take the opening set.
- The next two sets would see Hollins dominate the net, 14-3 in kills, and finish the match with 32 service aces in the 3-0, non-conference, win.
- Carrie Nelson had seven kills, six assists, and seven service aces. Schaefer added four kills and nine service aces while Sophia Maurer finished with six kills and four service aces. Maurer ended the season with 69 aces, tops in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and currently top-5 in the NCAA.
- Jaelyn Werley handed out 15 assists with Zo Miranda registering a team high four digs.
