The Lead: The Hollins swim team open the 2023-24 regular season on Friday night with a trip to Lexington to face off with Southern Virginia. The 16-event dual meet would take place at the Rockbridge Aquatic Center. Hollins would fall to the deeper Knights 165-59.
Highlights  

• The meet got started when the quartet of Jada Deane, Rachelle Kilgore, Samantha Ferrer, and Madeleine Freeman posted a runner-up finish (2:22.87) in the 200 Medley Relay.
• Katherine Komarek earned a 3^rd in the 200 Freestyle before returning later in the night to finish runner-up in the 500 Freestyle (6:36.49).
• Mia Bollerer touched the wall 2^nd in the 50 Backstroke in 39:38 and secured a 3^rd in the 100 Freestyle.
• Freeman was second in the 200 Individual Medley in 2:45.61 and earned a 3^rd, less than 2 seconds from the winner, in the 100 Breaststroke she finished 3^rd.
• Deane added a pair of 3^rd place finishes (50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke) with Kilgore placing runner-up in the 50 Breaststroke in 37.92. Ferrer was 3^rd in the 100 Butterfly.
• The final event of the meet would see Deane, Bollerer, Freeman, and Komarek completing the night runner-up in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
