The Lead: Shorthanded Hollins dropped a 49-44 decision to ODAC rival Randolph Wednesday night in ODAC Women's Hoops.

Highlights:
  • In a game that saw five Hollins players log at least 37 minutes of playing time, HU was led by Tia Tucker who narrowly missed a triple-double, scoring a game-high 21 points in addition to 10 rebounds and seven assists. Kayla Surles added 12 points in the loss for Hollins.
  • Hollis out rebounded Randolph 45-44, led by Tucker and Cabria Mutz who each had 10 boards, while Xavia Hahn had a career and game-high 12 rebounds.
  • The score was tied at six at the midway point of the first quarter when Randolph went on a 10-1 run to open up a 16-7 lead.
  • A three-pointer by Surles in the final seconds of the first quarter sparked what would prove to be a 7-0 run for HU that was capped off by a Hahn bucket that made it 16-14 with 6:31 to play in the half.
  • The WildCats responded with 11 unanswered points and would take a 27-15 lead into halftime.
  • Hollins rallied with a 13-2 run over the first seven and a half minutes of the second half, with a layup by Tucker making the score 29-28.
  • Randolph held a 32-29 advantage heading into the fourth quarter and would extend that lead to five points with a basket on the first possession of the fourth.
  • With the score 34-32, the WildCats scored nine of the game's next 11 points to take a 43-34 lead with just over three minutes to go in the game.
  • HU fought back, scoring the next five points, cutting its deficit to 43-39 when Surles scored with 1:50 to go.
  • After Randolph missed a pair of free-throws on the other end of the floor, Hollins had a chance to draw even closer, but the WildCats got a defensive stop and drained 6-of-8 free-throws to seal the game.
  • Cameron O'Neil led the way for Randolph with 16 points. Yanessa Cabrera was one of three WildCats with seven rebounds and had seven steals.
