Hollins Travels to Washington and Lee for ODAC Tri-Match

The Lead: Washington and Lee remained perfect in the ODAC with a 3-0 win over Hollins to open the league tri-match on Saturday.   
    
Highlights    
  • Tyler Sesker had a team-high five kills in the loss, while Kenna Esquibel and Deanna Kee each had a pair.
  • Defensively, Sesker led the way with three blocks and Esquibel's six digs was tops on the HU team.
  • W&L hit .342 for the match and took advantage of 17 hitting errors by the Green and Gold. The Generals also had 14 serving aces as a team.

The Lead: Hollins ran into another team with a perfect ODAC record, this time the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan topped HU 3-0.    
    
Highlights    
  • Four kills by Kee paced the Hollins offense. Selena Wolfe chipped in with three kills and Esquibel had a pair of kills.
  • In addition, Zoe Brooks dished out five assists to go along with team-best 11 digs. Kee had eight digs, while Hannah Crum had five digs and five assists.
  • VWU collected 16 service aces in the victory. The Marlins hit .187 as a team, getting a match-high 13 kills from Sydney Collins.
  • Hollins battled the Marlins to a 17-14 score in game one following a kill by Tyler Sesker, but VWU went on an 8-1 run to close out the set.
  • A kill by Aden Watts capped off a series of three unanswered points for HU that made it 14-7 VWU. That would be as close as Hollins would get as the Marlins closed out the game with an 11-2 run.
  • With the score 7-5 Marlins in game three, VWU pulled away with another 11-2 run to go up 18-7.
Up Next: Hollins will close out its home slate of matches on Monday when it hosts Roanoke at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the match, Hollins will honor its senior class.
