ROANOKE, Va. - Warmer weather means it's tennis season for the Green and Gold. 

Hollins kicked off their season a week ago against Washington and Lee, but played on an indoor court. Today HU held court, figuratively speaking, at the Batten Tennis Center as they welcomed Methodist University. Hollins was able to take some games from the Monarchs but ultimately fell 9-0. 

Kateri Johnson, playing #1 singles, fell 6-2, 6-1 to MU's Alex Pratt in Hollins' best showing of the day. 

First-year Aleaha Stout was competitive at #3 singles, dropping the first set 6-3 before falling 6-0 in set two. 

At #1 doubles, Johnson and Stout lost 8-3 to Kamdyn Balko and Sydney Bird while #2 doubles of Juliette Baek and Alexis Morring also dropped an 8-3 decision. 

The loss moves Hollins to 0-4, 0-1 ODAC on the season.

What's Next

Hollins will head to North Carolina on Thursday for a midweek matchup against Meredith College. The first match is scheduled for 4 pm.
