Offensive Woes Haunt Hollins in Loss to Randolph

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, Va. - A rough shooting day, especially from three, plagued Hollins on Saturday as they fell to Randolph, 61-42, in the Green and Gold's final road contest of the season.

How It Happened

Serena Lytton started out hot for Hollins (11-12, 5-11 ODAC), making the team's first five points, as HU and Randolph (7-16, 2-14 ODAC) traded points throughout the first quarter. But with the Wild Cats leading by one, Lenah Clements hit a three with under a minute left in the quarter to give HU a 12-10 lead after one.

After Randolph tied the game at 12, four straight points from Keyazia Taylor and a Keenan Surles three sandwiched a RC three, giving Hollins a 19-15 lead at the 5:57 mark. Hollins would then be held scoreless for the rest of the quarter as Randolph ended on a 10-0 run and took a 25-19 lead into the break.

Lytton came out with a big layup and one to start the third, which was answered by the Wild Cats to keep a seven point lead. But once again, after Yasmine Tyler hit a jump shot with 5:58 left, Hollins went cold, scoring just two points for the rest of the quarter as Randolph pulled ahead 44-30.

In the fourth, Randolph seemed to have an answer to everything Hollins threw at them, outscoring HU 17-12 in the final frame.

Offensively, Hollins was led by Lytton's 11 points and Tyler's 10.

Stats of the Game
