ROANOKE, Va. - Coming into Wednesday night's game against Ferrum, home was the place to be for Hollins. The Green and Gold had seven home wins, a program record, and were welcoming in a Ferrum squad with only three wins on the season. 

Unfortunately for HU, one of those wins came against Hollins earlier this season. And, much like the teams' first contest, it was a big quarter from the Panthers, this time the fourth, that lifted Ferrum to a 78-67 win over Hollins. 

How It Happened

Hollins (11-11, 5-10 ODAC) used a pair of Keyazia Taylor freethrows and a Serena Lytton jumper to take a 4-0 lead early. The Green and Gold held Ferrum (4-18, 4-11 ODAC) off the board for almost four minutes before the Panthers were able to score. The two teams traded baskets, with FC taking a 10-6 lead, until Lenah Clements drilled a three and Lytton had a layup to put HU back on top. Ferrum ended the quarter, however, on a 6-2 lead and took a 16-13 lead into the second. 

Ferrum was able to build a 10 point lead late in the second until Kayla Surles buried a three at the buzzer to make it a 40-33 FC lead at the half. 

In the third, after the Panthers extended the lead to nine, back-to-back threes from Kayla Surles and Sydney Strange cut the lead to three at 42-39. The teams traded points once again until a pair of Kayla Surles freethrows knotted things at 49. Ferrum scored the final three points of the quarter, however, and took a 52-49 lead into the final frame. 

In the fourth, while Hollins was able to put up 18, their defense couldn't stop Ferrum as the Panthers came away with a 26 point quarter, to put the game out of reach. 

Hollins was led by Kayla Surles' 24 points. Keenan Surles added 12 points on 4-5 shooting while Taylor finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

-Ferrum made the most of their night at the charity stripe, hitting 17 of 18 freethrows. 

What's Next

Hollins will head to Lynchburg on Saturday for a big ODAC matchup with Randolph. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 pm.
