Event: Swimming (tri-meet) - Hollins vs. Roanoke and Sweet Briar (Roanoke, VA)
The lead: Less than 24 hours after swimming a tri-meet at Mary Washington, Hollins would host their lone event of the fall when they welcomed Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals, Roanoke and Sweet Brair, to campus for a tri-meet of their own.
The result: Hollins 106 - 45 vs. Sweet Briar and Raonoke 156-36 vs. Hollins
How it happened: Roanoke College dominated the entry list with their deep roster as the Maroons had no problem accumulating big points in each of the 11 events. Hollins started the afternoon with a 3rd place effort in the opening, relay, event. Over the next nine individual heats, the Green and Gold would post a win, a runner-up, a pair of 3rds, and three 4th place finishes to earn the split.
Hollins notes:
- Maya Schattgen competed in a trio of individual events. The senior got Hollins lone win in the 100 Butterfly adding a 3rd in the 50 Freestyle
- In the 100 Breaststroke, Hanna DeVarona finished runner-up by just one second at 1:11.86
- Emily Miehlke secured 4th place points in the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle
- The 400 Medley Relay of team of Samantha Taylor, Molly Sullivan, Jules Brell, and Summer Jaime out touched Sweet Briar by 1.5 seconds
What's next: Hollins will travel to Hampden-Sydney to swim in a tri-meet with Barton and Randolph-Macon on November 9th.
