Winchester, VA - With just two conference matches left in the regular season, Hollins traveled to Shenandoah with sixth place in the ODAC standings on the line.  The winner of the match would be able to take over sixth place by themselves with the ODAC Tournament a little more than a week away.

The #1 doubles team of Victoria Coffee (Plano, TX) and Tiffany Hodges (Vinton, VA) got Hollins off to a good start by winning at the top spot.  However, the Hornets rebounded at #2 and #3 to take a 2-1 lead.

Hollins would need to win four of the six singles matches in order to move up in the conference standings.  Coffee lost her first set but fought back to take the second, 6-1.  A third set tie breaker would decide whether or not the senior would remain undefeated for the month of April.  Coffee battled with Molly Barb and the tie breaker remained close.  With the all important third set tied at 9-9, Barb scored two straight points to take the match.  Hodges would also see her match go to a third set tie breaker and this time it was Hollins that pulled out the hard fought win.  Hodges lost the first set, 7-5, before rallying, 6-1, to force a third set.  Hodges would go even deeper into the tie breaker, pulling out a 12-10 win at #2 singles.  Hollins would not be able to carry the momentum throughout the remainder of the matches and fell to Shenandoah, 7-2.

Hollins will step out of conference tomorrow as they take time to honor their five seniors with a visit from Trinity DC.  The match is scheduled to start at 1:00pm at the Batten Tennis Center.
