Lexington, VA - The Hollins University tennis team finally took the court for the opener of their 2015 schedule when they faced off with Washington and Lee on Saturday morning. After having a pair of conference matches rescheduled because of the weather, Hollins traveled to Lexington to face the perennial ODAC champion Generals.
Hollins fell 0-3 in the doubles matches against the nation's 20th ranked team. In singles play, Washington and Lee won at #2 and #3 to take a 5-0 lead. The match was then called complete as the Generals had accumulated the needed five points for the victory.
With the loss, Hollins starts the season at 0-1 while W&L moved their record to 5-2 overall, 2-0 in ODAC play.
Hollins will return home next Thursday when they welcome Mary Baldwin for a 3:30 match.
