Lynchburg, VA - The Hollins basketball team started a tough week that will see the team play two of the best teams in the ODAC.  Hollins started their two game road trip with a visit to Lynchburg to face the ODAC Preseason #1 ranked Hornets.  Lynchburg jumped on Hollins early, taking a 7-0 advantage in the opening minutes.  Hollins finally got on the board but couldn't stop the Hornets hot start.  As the half approached the midway point, Lynchburg enjoyed a 20-9 lead.  For the remainder of the half, the Hornets continued to build their advantage.  As the buzzer sounded, Lynchburg had forced 14 Hollins turnovers and held their visitors from Roanoke to just 20.8% shooting from the field.

Hollins did a much better job taking care of the ball in the second half, but still couldn't find their range from the field.  Lynchburg's size and depth took a toll on the road team and as the clock started to wind down, Lynchburg had secured a 77-35 conference victory.

Hollins shot a season low, 9-48, from the field.  Despite struggle to find the bottom fo the net, Jewellanna Parfitt (Roanoke, VA) hit seven of her 11 attempts from the free throw line to record 14 points.  Parfitt grabbed a team high eight rebounds while forward Kaitlyn Taylor (Gastonia, NC) registered six points and five rebounds.

Lynchburg College saw 12 different players in the scoring column led by Shannon Allen and Olivia DeFrancesco with 11 points apiece.  Charmaine Hairston led the Hornet bench with 10 points as the Lynchburg reserves outscored Hollins 29-8.

Hollins road doesn't get any easier as the team travels to the reigning ODAC Champions, Randolph-Macon, on Saturday afternoon.  The game with the Yellow Jackets is scheduled to tip at 2:00pm.
