Box Score Roanoke, VA - With just four regular season games remaining, Hollins hosted Emory & Henry on Wednesday night. Hollins fell to the Wasps back on January 13th and hoped to turn the tables on their guests. The game started with Emory & Henry using full court pressure defense to build an early lead. Hollins cut the lead to 11-6, but the visiting Wasps used an 11-0 run to push their lead to 15 points. At the 9:21 mark, Amber Markovitz (Branford, CT) hit a pair of free throws to stop the E&H run. However, the home team couldn't build any sort of momentum thanks to 19 first half turnovers. Hollins lone highlight of the first half came when Taylor Catron (Tazewell, VA) hit a half court buzzer beater to cut the E&H lead to 37-22.
The second half saw Emory & Henry use a 8-0 start to put the game out of reach. When the game came to an end, Hollins had committed 31 turnovers while shooting just 26.5% from the field as the Wasps came to Roanoke and picked up the 77-41 ODAC victory.
Catron led the Hollins offense with 13 points, six rebounds, and two assists, all team highs. Giselle Verville (Charlotte, NC) came off the bench to connect on three of her six three point attempts en route to 10 points.
The Wasps used a balanced attack that saw 11 different players land in the scoring column, led by Kristie Langley and her game high 14 points. Chloe Harris added 12 points while Tamara Brewster netted 11. Harris added four assists and five steals while Tenesha Conner came off the bench to grab six rebounds.
Hollins will be on the road this weekend when they travel to Winchester to face Shenandoah University.
