Roanoke, VA - The Hollins basketball team went looking for an out of conference win on Sunday afternoon.  Hollins hosted Salem College in the finale of a four game home stand.  The home team took control early, building a 12-3 lead in the game's opening minutes.  However, the Spirits rallied to take their first lead late in the half but it was Hollins that enjoyed a 33-31 lead at intermission.

Much like Hollins mid-week game against Guilford that saw the Quakers use a 12-0 second half run to put the game away, Hollins once again failed to hold onto their advantage.  Less than five minutes into the second frame, Salem had erased their deficit and built a five point lead of their own.  After committing just nine first half turnovers, Hollins couldn't find a way to keep control of the ball.  16 second half turnovers led to 15 Salem College points as the Spirits pulled away for the victory, 66-52.

Leading scorer Jewellanna Parfitt (Roanoke, VA) recorded her second double-double in her last four games.  Parfitt registered 17 points, 13 rebounds, and a pair of steals.  Senior forward Britney Campbell (Silver Spring, MD) added eight points and a game high 15 boards.  Taylor Catron (Tazewell, VA) tallied eight points and four assists while Kaitlyn Taylor (Gastonia, NC) and Giselle Verville (Charlotte, NC) added six points apiece.

Despite going to the bench midway throuhg the first half with two fouls, Quantashea Lewis posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Kristal Lollis added 12 points and 12 boards while Sabrina Shepherd came of the bench to score 15 points for Salem.

Hollins will head out on the road for a pair of games with the ODAC's best over the next week.  Hollins will make their first stop in Lynchburg against the ODAC Preseason number one Hornets on Tuesday night.  The game is scheduled to tip at 7:00pm and can been seen on the Lynchburg College feed from First Team Broadcasting.
