Hollins Exacts Revenge On Panthers

Farmville, VA - For the second consecutive meet, the Hollins swim team battled Ferrum College.  After falling to the Panthers back on November 12th, Hollins traveled to Hampden Sydney to face Ferrum in a neutral pool.  This time around it was Hollins that came away with the victory, 150-101.

Hollins got the dual meet off to a good start by finishing one, two in the opening relay.  Megan David (Roanoke, VA), Ashley Gao (Pearland, TX), Aubrey Hobby (South Pittsburg, TN) and Amelia Eyles (Millwood, VA) won the 400 Medley Relay to start the 14 event meet.

Bethany Huss (Durham, NC) won two individual events and finished second in another while also swimming the anchor leg for Hollins win in the 400 Freestyle Relay.  Huss finished ahead of the field in the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Freestyle while missing out on her third win by coming up less than one second short in the 50 Freestyle.  Dani Raymond (Fredericksburg, VA) registered a pair of wins in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Breaststroke while finishing third in the 200 Freestyle.

Sophomore Hayley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA) added a first in the 200 Butterfly and a second in the 100 Butterfly and senior Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) recorded first place points in the 200 Backstroke and a pair of seconds, 400 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.  Caulfeild-James, Raymond, and O'Brien joined Huss in the 400 Medley Relay victory.

The win runs Hollins dual meet record to 4-2 on the season.  Hollins will have to wait over a month before their next meet, a conference matchup with Bridgewater College.  Hollins will travel to face the Eagles on Friday, January 9th.
