Ferrum, VA - The Hollins University swim
team went on the road almost two weeks after sweeping a quad meet
at home. Hollins traveled to face off with Ferrum College in
a non-conference dual meet. It marked the first of back to
back swims against their neighbors from Ferrum.
Hollins came into the meet looking for their
fourth straight victory, however it was the home standing Panthers
that won eight of the 11 events en route to taking the meet,
111-90.
Hollins brought home three wins, six runner up,
and eight thirds but it wasn't enough to offset Ferrum's first
place finishes. Claire Webber
(Blauvelt, NY) led Hollins by brining home first place
points in a pair of events, 100 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke,
while finishing second in the 50 Freestyle. Sophomore
Hayley
Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA) provided the other
Hollins first place finish when she won the third event of the
meet, the 200 Freestyle. Caulfeild-James runner up points in
the 100.
Meg O'Brien
(Chattanooga, TN) continued her solid
senior campaign adding second place points in the 1000 and 500
Freestyle and a third in the 200 Individual Medley.
First-year swimmers Bethany Huss (Durham,
NC) and Dani Raymond (Fredericksburg, VA)
combined to add third place points in three different
events.
Hollins will not have to wait long to seek revenge against the
Panthers, as the two teams will face off in the Hampden Sydney pool
on December 3rd.
