Sophia Maurer of the volleyball team is the Hollins Student-Athlete of the Week. Maurer and her teammates earned a split during a trip to Maryland for a tri-match. In a 3-1 win over Penn State-Abington, the sophomore recorded nine kills, five service aces, and a pair of solo blocks. Currently her 52 service aces are tops in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and tied for 19th in the NCAA individual statistical leaders for the 2023 season.
