Chris Kilcoyne

Chris Kilcoyne was named Director of Athletics at Hollins in May of 2022. 

Kilcoyne came to Hollins after a five year stint at his alma mater Roanoke College where he handled all facets and digital strategies of the athletic communications office including webcasts, social media, branding and marketing of RC's 21 teams. Kilcoyne also worked the Roanoke Development Office on fundraising strategies and alumni events and served on the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. He also assisted with oversight of day-to-day department operations and game management. 

Following the 2016-2017 academic year, the Roanoke College athletic communications department was awarded the ODAC Sports Information Director of the Year award. The honors were bestowed in recognition of Kilcoyne and Kelly Higbie, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.

Prior to RC, Kilcoyne was at the Atlantic 10 Conference where he served as Associate Director of Communications. During his time at the A-10, Kilcoyne served as the main media contact for women's basketball, field hockey, baseball, men's soccer and golf.

Prior to his time at the A-10, Kilcoyne was at fellow ODAC member Randolph-Macon as an Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director. 

In his role as Assistant Athletic Director, Kilcoyne was responsible for coordinating compliance regulations within NCAA, ODAC, and institutional guidelines. He also oversaw all game management operations for all athletic home contests, facility scheduling, scheduling for each sport and served as the Chair of the Randolph-Macon Athletics Hall of Fame Committee. 

As the SID, Kilcoyne was responsible for overseeing all the sports information needs for the Yellow Jackets' 17 athletic programs, as well as maintaining the athletics web site.

Kilcoyne came to R-MC after spending two years as the Sports Information Director at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. While at the ODAC, Kilcoyne handled all of the sports information duties for the league's 22 sponsored sports, while serving as the media relations coordinator for the NCAA Division III volleyball, football and men's basketball championships co-hosted by the City of Salem and the conference.

Prior to his work with the ODAC, Kilcoyne was a Sports Information Assistant at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. from 2002-2004. Kilcoyne served as the main contact for women's soccer, wrestling, cross-country and baseball teams. In addition, he was involved in hosting both the 2002 Atlantic Sun Women's Soccer Championships and the 2003 A-Sun Cross-Country meet.

A 2002 graduate of Roanoke College, Kilcoyne gained valuable experience working with each of the school's 19 varsity sports as a student. He also assisted the ODAC and the City of Salem during National Championship contests. Kilcoyne graduated from RC with a BA in sociology and a concentration in mass communication.

Kilcoyne hails from Holden, Massachusetts and is a member of the National Association of College Athletic Directors (NACDA), a longtime member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) and the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). He has also served as a voter in the D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Top-25 Poll and the D3hoops' Men's All-South Region Team, as well as serving as the coordinator of VaSID's College Division All-State Men's Lacrosse team.

Kilcoyne has an 13 year old son Whit and they reside in Salem.
