Event: Tennis - Guilford at Hollins (Roanoke, VA)
The lead: For the final time before Spring Break, the Hollins tennis team looked to defend her home court when Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Guilford College came to campus. Both teams came into the matchup looking for their first conference win of the season.
The result: Hollins 7-2
How it happened: Hollins won handily at #1 and #3 doubles with the third point up for grabs. At the #2 spot the two teams were deadlocked at 7-7 and headed to a seven point tie-breaker. The team of Kateri Johnson and Alexis Morring seized control early and cruised to the 7-2 win. Needing just two more individual wins to secure their first victory of the season, Hollins easily won at #3 and then #1 to secure the ODAC win. The final four singles matches were played to a split as Hollins posted a 7-2 final score.
- The duo of Elizabeth Eubank and Anna Holland won at #3 doubles for the first time, 8-2. Eubank (#4) and Holland (#6) also won in singles play for the first time in their collegiate careers
- Sarah Jordan Snoddy went 2-0 for the second time in a week, winning at #1 doubles and then posting a 6-1 and 6-2 win at #3 singles
- Johnson picked up a win at the #1 spot for the second time in as many matches this week, (6-0 and 6-1)
What's next: Hollins will be off for two plus weeks before opening up a three match road trip on April 6th with a visit to Trinity (D.C.).
