Event: Tennis - Bridgewater at Hollins (Roanoke, VA)
The lead: The the third time in less than 72 hours, the Hollins tennis team defender her home courts. After playing host to a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals on Sunday, Hollins hosted Bridgewater College in the Eagles 2019 conference debut.
The result: Bridgewater 9-0
How it happened: The Eagles raced out to a clean sweep of the three doubles matches, winning each by a score of 8-0. In singles play, Hollins put up a much better fight, enjoying deep rallies and putting pressure on their guests. At both #1 and #2 singles, Hollins rebounded from being shut out in the opening set to take 3-3 ties deep into the second frame. However, each time the Eagles would respond to take the individual match ups and finish the afternoon with a 9-0 ODAC victory.
- Sarah Jordan Snoddy would take an early lead before falling, 6-3 and 6-3, at #3 singles
- At the top spot, Kateri Johnson battled Whitney Kiser in a second set that could have gone either way
- #6 singles saw first-year Alexis Morring enjoy the best match of her young career, 6-2 and 6-1
What's next: Hollins will travel out of conference to play Averett on Thursday before returning home for a, four match, home stand leading into Spring Break.
