LEXINGTON, Va. - The Hollins University swim team made the trek to Lexington on Saturday to square off against the rest of the conference at the ODAC Relays.
Overall, the team finished in eighth place with 29 points, just one point behind seventh place Guilford.
The team of Hanna DeVarona, Madeline Evangelista and Summer Jaime took on the 3x50 butterfly relay, finishing with a time of 1:41.01 while teammates Emily Miehlke, Megan Bull and Molly Sullivan finished 11th in the 3x50 backstroke with a time of 1:41.18.
DeVarona, Jaime and Bull finished 12th in the 3x50 breaststroke relay, touching with a time of 1:52.54.
Continuing with the three person relays, the 3x100 IM team of DeVarona, Jaime and Evangelista touched the wall in 3:56.45, which put them in 14th place.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Miehlke, DeVarona, Bull and Sullivan was 13th, finishing in 4:16.84 and the team of Jesslyn Hammond, Jaime, Sullivan and Miehlke competed in the 500 yard relay in which each member swam a different distance. Hammond was the 50, Jaime was the 100, Sullivan swam the 150 and Miehlke anchored with 200 yards. They finished in 5:45.72, good enough for 13th place.
Hammond, Jaime, Miehlke and Emily Clarke took on the 200 medley relay, finishing in 2:40.87 and the team of Evangelista, Hammond, Sullivan and Clarke finished the 100 yard dolphin kicking relay in 1:26.61.
In the final relay, DeVarona, Miehlke, Sullivan and Evangelista finished 14th in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:58.73.
Washington and Lee took the team title with 421 points.
HU will have next weekend off before taking on Roanoke and Sweet Briar in a tri-meet on Oct. 26. The meet is at Sweet Briar and it starts at 1 pm.
