WINCHESTER, Va. - Four school records were broken as the Hollins Indoor Track and Field team squared off against competition at the Kaye and JJ Smith Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University.
Kacie Shifflett got things started, setting the Hollins record in the one mile run, crossing the finish line in 6:22.24. She also set a Hollins, and personal record in the 800 meter, completing the run in 2:56.66, which was good enough for eighth place.
Cecelia Riddle set the Hollins record in the 400 meter, crossing the finish line in 1:19.62.
In the field events, Kenna Esquibel set the school record in the shotput, throwing 9.22 meters, which was good enoug for 11th place.
Multiple personal bests were also set, as Ky'Asia Brown ran the 200 meter for a PT, Amanda Mink had a personal best in the 400 meter, Abigail Hegwood set a personal best in the 60 meter dash while in the field events, Brown, Riddle and Savannah Scott all had personal bests in the long jump.
Hollins will be back in action Jan. 24 and 25 as they head up the road to Roanoke College for the Finn-Pincus Invitational.
