Lynchburg, Va. – The Hollins riding team open the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) portion of their 2025-26 schedule over the weekend with a trip to Rustburg, Va. The University of Lynchburg hosted back-to-back shows on Saturday and Sunday. Hollins Riding had a consistently successful start to the season at the double header earning Reserve High Point Team on both days. The Green and Gold finished runner-up to the host Hornets and saw several riders pointed out of their divisions and secured a spot at IHSA Regionals at the first show of the 2025-2026 season.Â

Highlights:
- Starting the team off both days in Open Flat, senior Gabriella Goshtigian rode to 3rd and 5th and junior Lauren Williams rode to 4th. Both riders represented Hollins in Open Fences as well, with Goshtigian placing 1st and 2nd and Williams placing 3rd and 5th.Â
- Sophomore Meghan Moore represented the team in Intermediate Flat and Intermediate Fences, placing 1st and 2nd on the flat and 1st and 4th over fences.Â
- Limit Flat saw a 1st and 4th place ride from both sophomore Grace Margaret Trahnstrom and sophomore Abigail Cuthbertson.Â
- Making her IHSA Limit Fences debut, junior Summer Fraughnaugh earned 6th with teammate and sophomore Molly McGarvey placing 1st and 2nd and qualifying for Regionals. Sophomore Juliana Guggino earned 3rd and 5th.Â
- Qualifying for Regionals and representing Hollins in the Novice division, sophomore Emma Veitz earned 1st and 3rd.Â
- Winning a pair of 1sts, sophomore Freya Olson pointed up out of her division and secured her spot at Regionals in the Introductory division.
