Ava Rodgers of the soccer team is the Hollins Student-Athlete of the Week. On Sunday, Hollins kicked off the 2025 soccer season with a match against Johnson & Wales. The Wildcats won the match, 2-0, for their second win of the season. Rodgers got the start on defense in her first collegiate game and helped to anchor a defensive unit that kept Hollins close throughout the afternoon. 24 Wildcat shots, 12 on target, turned into 10 saves and a trio of blocked shots by the defense. Rodgers, a first-year from Virginia Beach, helped to turn defensive stops into offensive attacks by taking the ball down the sideline on multiple occasions that led to Hollins scoring opportunities. Â
