Sophia Maurer is the Hollins Student-Athlete of the Week. On Saturday, the Hollins volleyball team kicked off the 2025 season with a pair of home wins. In a 3-0 victory over Wesleyan (Ga.), the senior recorded five service aces to go with three blocks, and seven digs. Against Bryn Mawr, the New Mexico native had eight kills, six aces, five blocks, and a team high seven digs. Maurer hit .579 while recording 11 service aces and eight blocks helping lead Hollins to a 2-0 start, the best since a 3-0 beginning to the 2017 season.
