Gettysburg, PA - The Hollins University cross country team took the starting line for the last time this regular season when they tackled the 6K course at the Gettysburg Invitational. 282 runners representing 35 different institutions got together for a 10:30 am start. Hollins sent five runners out in the field and the green and gold came home 28th as a team.
Jhovanna Salmeron was the fasted runner for Hollins and the only team member to crack the top 100. Salmeron posted a 26:09.9 to once again lead her teammates to the finish line. Reigning Hollins Student-Athlete of the Week Francesca Reilly finished less than eight seconds ahead of Debra Henke. Reilly ran a 29:04.3 with Henke recording a 29:12.0. Kalyn Chapman and Hannah Schmidt rounded out the Hollins lineup.
The meet marked the end of the regular season and the final time for Hollins to face outside competition before the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship meet at the end of the month, October 28th.
