Greensboro, NC - The Hollins cross country team traveled to North Carolina to compete in the 34th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational. Six Hollins runners competed in a field of 47 racers from eight different NCAA DIII schools.
As has been the case in each of Hollins meets over the past two seasons, senior Jhovanna Salmeron paced the green and gold. Salmeron posted a time of 21:52.51, almost seven seconds clear of a runner from Salem College. Hollins just missed another top 10 finish when Debra Henke came home 16 seconds behind Cynthia Aldama from Ferrum College. The third finisher for the team came in the form of Francesca Reilly. Reilly was less than three seconds from 13th and a little less than 12 seconds behind Henke. Hannah Schmidt and Natasha Campbell completed the course within 20 seconds of one another and gave Hollins five in the top 30 of the event.
Next up will be a trip to Sweet Briar on October 7th. It will be the second time this season that the two long-time rivals will compete against one another. Hollins will look to build on their 16 point victory over the Vixens at the Virginia Tech meet.
