Hollins selected 11th in 2017 ODAC preseason poll

Forest, VA - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released their 2017 Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll on Wednesday afternoon. In just their second season, Hollins was selected to finish 11th, one spot ahead of her arch rivals from Sweet Briar College.

In it's first year back in over a decade, the Hollins cross country program exceeded expectations a year ago when they finished ahead of their predicted finish at the ODAC Championships. The 10 runner squad had to overcome several obstacles in their first season and return a seasoned lined in 2017.

Leading runners Jhovanna Salmeron and Sarah Rubin return for their final seasons representing the Green and Gold. The duo finished 1-2 in every race that they ran for Hollins last season and look to improve their personal times and lead Hollins up the ODAC standings. Meagan Rioux made a late surge last season and looks to add to the team's 1-2 punch this year. Natasha Campbell and Kalyn Chapman made huge improvements in 2106, giving Hollins five returning runners going into their second season.

The team will "hit the ground running" upon their return to campus next week in hopes of getting the season off to a good start when they travel to Bridgewater on September 1st. The season will conclude with the 2017 ODAC Championships that will be held in Virginia Beach, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan in late October.
