Salem, VA - For the second time this week, Hollins squared off with Mary Baldwin in the finale of the 2017 Roanoke College Maroon Classic. Hollins swept the Squirrels in Staunton on Wednesday night and needed to repeat that performance in order to avoid a fourth loss in the two day event.

After easily defeating Mary Baldwin on Wednesday, Hollins struggled to pull away from their long time foe in the rematch. Nursing an 18-15 advantage, Kiki Speights held her serve for six straight points to put away the first set, 25-16. Baldwin would take the first two points of the second frame, but Hollins would answer in a big way. Amanda Mink entered the match to take her first turn behind the service line and promptly served Hollins to 10 straight points, including a pair of aces. Mink gave the green and gold a big lead and Courtney Chappell put the set away with a pair of aces in her own 5-0 service run. Hollins entered the third set looking to finish of Mary Baldwin and thanks in part to Chappell, they did just that. Leading 8-5, Chappell once again rattled off 15 straight with four aces to give Hollins the sweep and improve her overall record to 4-3.

Hollins enjoyed a 44-12 advantage at the net and served 14 aces. Speights and Brie Faircloth each had 10 kills Chappell added nine kills, 13 digs, and six service aces while Casey Mahan registered seven kills and 21 assists.

Brenda Korlison and Brittany Sharon each had four kills while Kelly Slack assisted on 10 of Mary Baldwin's 12 kills.

Hollins will enter Old DOminion Athletic COnference (ODAC) play with a winning record for the first time in decades when they play host to Randolph College on Wednesday night at 7:00pm.
