Salem, VA - After falling for the fist time this season on day one, Hollins looked to get back on track on day two of the Roanoke College Maroon Classic. Methodist University was the first opponent as the green and gold would play twice on Saturday afternoon.
On the back of a 14-10 kill advantage, Hollins would hang with the Monarchs throughout most of the opening set. With the score 11-12, Methodist would score seven of the next eight points to gain the advantage and hold on to win the first, 25-18. A 5-0 run by the Monarchs to open the second frame would give Methodist the lead. Hollins would cut the deficit to two, but in the end it was Methodist who enjoyed a 2-0 lead, taking the second set 25-15. The third set was all Methodist as they used a 12-0 run to put it away early and sweep Hollins, 3-0.
Charlie Vollmers and Brie Faircloth each recorded seven kills to lead Hollins. Sarah Freeman had 10 assists and a team high nine digs while Casey Mahan handed out 10 helpers to go with eight digs and an assisted block.
Brittany Ter Meer registered 12 kills on 18 attacks without committing an error. Maggie Harris and Lili Henry combined for 25 assists and Annabelle Ronelli had a match high 11 digs.
