Lexington, VA - The Hollins volleyball team traveled to Lexington to take on Washington and Lee in their regular season finale. The Generals came into the season picked to win the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship and were currently sitting in second place in the conference.
Washington and Lee broke open a 2-2 tie with an 8-1 run to take a big lead in the opening set, 10-3. The Generals continued to build onto their advantage and took the first set, 25-9. The second frame saw the home team race out to a huge lead, 22-6. Hollins closed on a 7-3 run of their own but it wasn't enough as the green and gold fell down 0-2. The heavily favored home team once again enjoyed an early advantage. The visitors from Roanoke hung around but in the end, it was Washington and Lee with a 25-15 third set victory and the Generals claimed their eighth ODAC win of the season.
Deja Hadden paced Hollins with five kills while Amanda Mink, Ki'Ana Speights, and Courtney Chappell added two kills apiece. Casey Mahan had nine assists with Torri Jolly recording two assists and 14 digs.
Meg Guignon registered 12 kills, a service ace, eight digs, and a block to lead W&L. Allison Webb added nine kills, four service aces, and three blocks with Anna Soroka handing out 35 assists.
With the loss, Hollins will end their regular season having not qualified for the eight team, end of season, ODAC Women's Volleyball Tournament.
