Roanoke, VA - For the second time in as many days, the Hollins tennis team found herself in action against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition. After falling, on the road, to Bridgewater, Hollins returned home to host Emory & Henry College on Friday afternoon.

Hollins wasted little time in taking control of the match. Amelia Verkerk and Sarah Jordan Snoddy made quick work of their opponents at the #2 spot, 8-1. The duo of Kateri Johnson and Olivia Dannon posted the identical score at #3 doubles to give Hollins a quick advantage. At the top spot, Jhovanna Salmeron and Kate Woodruff held off a late rally to make it a clean sweep, 8-6.

In indvidual play, Valerie Sargeant gave the home team a 4-0 lead with a straight sets win, 6-0 and 6-0, at the #6 spot. Just moments later Johnson gave Hollins the match with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory at #3 singles. With the match in hand Salmeron (#1), Verkerk (#2), and Dannon (#5) gave Hollins the 8-1 conference win. Hollins now sits at 2-3 in ODAC play, currently tied for 7th in the 12 team league standings.

Hollins is scheduled to face Trinity (DC) in non-conference play on Monday but due to the forecast make sure to check www.HollinsSports.com for information concerning the upcoming matches.
