Johnson Named ODAC Player Of The Week

Forest, Va - Over the past seven days, the Hollins tennis teamed racked up three victories including a pair against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition. With the wins, Hollins has now won three conference matches in a row and have positioned themselves to claim one of the eight spots in the upcoming 2017 ODAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament.

Kateri Johnson went a perfect 6-0 during the week, picking up three doubles wins to go with her three individual victories. For her efforts, the first-year was honored by the league as the ODAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

Against her arch rivals from Sweet Briar, Johnson helped to lead Hollins to a 6-3 victory. After repeating her performance the next afternoon against Trinity, Kateri and her teammates traveled to Winchester for a crucial match against Shenandoah. Hollins earned a hard fought, 5-4, win to put them in the playoffs and Johnson was once again perfect on the afternoon. In going 6-0, Johnson amassed a 24-4 mark in her three match victories with her partner, Casey Mahan. In singles play, Kateri won 36 of the 40 games that she played at #4 and #5.
