Hilton Head, SC - The Hollins tennis team continued her road trip in Hilton Head, SC with a pair of matches on Thursday. The team would take the court against St. Olaf and Wisconsin Oshkosh in their final action of the break.
In their match against St. Olaf, Hollins lost several hard fought matches against the Oles. At #1 singles, Jhovanna Salmeron pushed her opponent to the limit before falling 7-6 in the first set and 6-3 in the finale. Hollins was able to rebound at #4 singles when Kateri Johnson picked up a 6-3 and 7-6 win over Tiffany Wong. St. Olaf was able to take the remaining matches en route to a 8-1 win.
In their second match of the day, Hollins fell at #1 and #2 doubles. In the #3 doubles match, the team of Olivia Dannon and Elizabeth Rochow found themselves tied at 6-6. However, the Titan duo rallied to take the final two games and the match, 8-6. In singles play, Amelia Verkerk lost a close match, 6-4 and 6-3, at #3.
Hollins will return home and face a tough task next week. Hollins will play host to perennial national power Washington and Lee on Tuesday afternoon.
