  • Hollins Competes In ODAC Quarterfinals

    Wednesday ushered in the start of the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Tennis Tournament. Hollins kicked off the tournament as the #8 seed and took the short trip north to face the regular season champion and #1 seeded Generals of Washington and Lee.

    The Hollins tennis teamed played her last regular season match on Thursday afternoon, Hollins would travel across town to face Roanoke College in hopes of winning a fifth consecutive match to close out the 2017 campaign.

    Over the past seven days, the Hollins tennis teamed racked up three victories including a pair against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition. With the wins, Hollins has now won three conference matches in a row and have positioned themselves to claim one of the eight spots in the upcoming 2017 ODAC Women's Tennis Championship Tournament.

    For the fourth time in a week, Hollins took to the courts looking to pick up another, late season, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory. The Green and Gold entered the road match against Shenandoah looking to extend her three match win steak. A win over the Hornets would all be seal up an invite to the 2017 ODAC Tennis Tournament.

    For the third time in a week, and the final time this season, Hollins looked to defend her home courts at the Batten Tennis Center. Having bested a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foes over the past two home matches, Hollins stepped out of conference one last time when they hosted Trinity Washington University on Thursday afternoon.

    The Hollins tennis team played her arch rivals from Sweet Briar College on Wednesday afternoon. Hollins was in search of a second consecutive victory against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competition after winning against Virginia Wesleyan over the weekend. A win over the Vixens would move Hollins closer to the eight seed and a spot in the 2017 ODAC Tennis Championship Tournament.
  • Snoddy Comeback Secures ODAC Victory

    The Hollins University tennis team entered the most important week of the 2017 season with a visit from Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The Marilns were the first of three Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponents over the next eight days. With the ODAC Tennis Championships looming, Hollins used a big rally to defeat Virginia Wesleyan, 5-4, and move up the conference standings.

    Thursday afternoon marked the middle of three scheduled matches this week for the Hollins tennis team. After hosting Bridgewater on Tuesday, Hollins traveled to Southern Virginia for a non-conference matchup on Thursday afternoon. The Knights proved to be inhospitable hosts as the home team took all three doubles matches to seize control.

    One day after the originally scheduled match, Hollins hosted Bridgewater College on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Heavy rains postponed the match yesterday so the Eagles made the trip south on Interstate 81 for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. Bridgewater took the three doubles matches and carried that momentum to an 8-1 conference win.

    In a crucial showdown for teams looking to secure a berth in the 2017 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tennis Tournament, Hollins traveled to Emory & Henry on Friday afternoon. The winner would move into the top eight in the conference, with the loser on the outside looking in for a spot in the tournament.

    Less than 24 hours after hosting 16th ranked Washington and Lee, the Hollins tennis team stepped out of conference to face Mary Baldwin University on Wednesday afternoon. Hollins took all three doubles matches en route to their second home victory of the season, 8-1.

    After playing four matches in Hilton Head over the spring break, Hollins returned home to defend the courts at the Batten Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon. The opponent, the Generals of Washington and Lee, currently ranked 16th in NCAA DIII.

    The Hollins tennis team continued her road trip in Hilton Head, SC with a pair of matches on Thursday. The team would take the court against St. Olaf and Wisconsin Oshkosh in their final action of the break.

    The Hollins University tennis team took on Frostburg State on Wednesday of Spring Break. Hollins traveled to Hilton Head to play several matches over the break.

    On the final afternoon before Spring Break, the Hollins tennis team hosted Randolph College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The WildCats came into the match looking for their first conference win of the season, while Hollins hoped to continue to stay ahead of their guests in the ODAC standings.

    The Hollins tennis team traveled to Randolph-Macon in their first road match of the 2017 season. The match with the Yellow Jackets marks the only time in the first five scheduled matches that the young squad will not be defending her home courts at the Batten Tennis Center. Hollins was able to even their record at 1-1 after defeating Guilford College last Friday afternoon but faced a tough test against Macon.

    After falling to Lynchburg College in their season and home debut on Wednesday afternoon, the Hollins tennis team looked to even her record when they took on Guilford College. The Quakers made the trip from Greensboro with the winner of the match picking up their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory of the season.

    The 2017 Hollins spring tennis season got started on Wednesday afternoon when Lynchburg College came to town for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup. The Hornets were picked to finish fifth in the preseason coaches poll while Hollins was tabbed 11th.

    Friday marked the release of the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Tennis Preseason Poll. The poll ranks each of the 12 schools that sponsor women's tennis, as voted on by the coaches. Hollins was picked to finish 11th, one spot ahead of her biggest rival, Sweet Briar College.
  • Johnson Advances At ITA Regionals
    September 24, 2016
    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) held their southeast regional over the weekend. The event was held over three days and was hosted by Mary Washington University. There were 12 different singles and doubles draws and featured all the best players from the region.
  • Tennis Competes At Methodist Invitational
    September 11, 2016
    The 2016-17 tennis season started with a trip to compete in the three day Methodist University Invitational. The event consisted of four doubles draws, completed on Friday, with eight different singles draws being contested over the weekend. Hollins was represented by five different players in two doubles and four singles draws.
  • Hollins Student Athletes Recognized By ITA

    The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their annual academic awards. In addition to the team award, Hollins University placed six players on the ITA All-Academic Team for the 2015-16 season.
