Hollins defeated Sweet Briar for the third time this season, 114-62

Event: Swimming Tri-Meet - Hollins vs. Emory & Henry vs. Sweet Briar (Sweet Briar, VA)

The lead: Hollins returned to the Lynchburg area on Saturday when they traveled to Sweet Briar to challenge a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals. After defeating Randolph on Friday night, Hollins would look to make it a three for three weekend when they took on Emory & Henry and the host Vixens.

The result: Hollins 114 - Sweet Briar 62 and Emory & Henry 92 - Hollins 68

How it happened: The meet consisted of two relay and nine individual events. The Green and Gold did not compete for points in the relay races, allowing the Wasps and Vixens to take an early advantage. However, during the individual events, Hollins would accumulate a pair of wins to go with six runner-up and five sets of third place points. When the meet came to a close, Hollins had finished ahead of their arch rivals from Sweet Briar for the third time this season.

Hollins notes:

  • Emily Miehlke, 100 Freestyle, and Hanna DeVarona, 100 Breaststroke, each brought home first place points
  • Maya Schattgen finished runner up twice (50 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly) while earning a third in the 100 Freestyle
  • Miehlke and DeVarona added a second and third apiece while Molly Sullivan would secure a pair of second place points

What's next: The regular season finale will be a quad-meet hosted by Hollins next Saturday. It will be senior day when Guilford, Virginia Wesleyan and Randolph come to town for a 1:00pm start.
