Event: Swimming - Hollins at Randolph (Lynchburg, VA)
The lead: The Hollins swim team was back in the pool after a month and a half hiatus for the holiday break. Friday would mark the first of consecutive trips to Lynchburg when the Green and Gold traveled to face Randolph College in a dual-meet.
The result: Hollins 97-71
How it happened: After falling to Randolph in the opening relay event, Hollins would go on to dominate the nine individual events. Eight first place finishes to go with a quartet of runner-up efforts allowed Hollins to mount such a huge lead that they didn't even enter a team in the final relay race of the night, handing the host WildCats the first and second place points. A pair of Hollins swimmers would each record three wins while a third teammate registered a win in each of her individual races.
- The relay team of Emily Miehlke, Molly Sullivan, Jules Brell, and Summer Jaime grabbed second place points to open the meet in the 400 Medley Relay
- Miehlke would return to win the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle
- Maya Schattgen paced the field in the 50 Freestyle by 2.5 seconds, then earned a 10 second victory in the 100 Backstroke. Schattgen made it 3-3 with a win in the 100 Butterfly
- Sophomore Hanna DeVarona was also perfect in her three events. After finishing ahead of Sullivan in the 200 IM, DeVarona picked up wins in the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke
What's next: Hollins will return to the Lynchburg area when they travel to face their arch rivals from Sweet Briar tomorrow afternoon.
