Hollins Travels To Mary Washington

Event: Swimming - Hollins vs. Mary Washington and Frostburg State (Fredericksburg, VA)

The lead: The Hollins University swim team returned to action in the first of back-to-back tri-meets with a trip to Mary Washington. Hollins would face off with Frostburg State and the host Eagles on Friday night in advance of hosting a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rivals on Saturday afternoon.

The result: Mary Washington 188-48 and Frostburg 156-74

How it happened: Hollins started with meet with a third place effort in the 400 Medley Relay. Throughout the individual events, the Green and Gold would register three top three finishes to go with three, fourth place efforts. The meet consisted of 12 individual and a pair of relay races.

Hollins notes: 

  • The team of Emily Miehlke, Hanna DeVarona, Maya Schattgenand Jules Brell got the night off to a good start with a 3rd place finish in the 400 Medley Relay
  • Schattgen would register a pair of 3rd place individual finishes, 100 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly
  • DeVarona recorded Hollins other 3rd place effort in the 200 Breaststroke while securing 4th place points in the 100 Breaststroke

What's next: Hollins will host a tri-meet in their home pool tomorrow afternoon. ODAC rivals, Roanoke and Sweet Briar will join Hollins for a 2:00pm start.
