Ashland, VA - The Hollins swim team traveled to Ashland to compete one last time before the Holiday break. Hollins was one of 14 different schools to send swimmers into action at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon.
The first day of the two day event saw a pair of relays and three individual events. The quartet of Debra Henke, Lucy Manjikian, Maya Schattgen, and Alexandra Sanchez finished just seconds behind their rivals from Bridgewater in the 200 Freestyle Relay to get the meet started. In the final event of the afternoon, the same team posted a time of 4:43.15 in the 400 Medley Relay, their best time of the season.
Manjikian went a season best in the breaststroke leg of the relay as well as a lifetime best (32.31) in the 50 Freestyle. In addition to solid legs in the relays, Henke posted a personal best in the 200 Individual Medley. Kaleigh DePetro shaved 16 seconds off her personal best in the 500 Freestyle, winning her heat by several lengths.
