Hollins Travels To ODAC Power Emory & Henry

Emory, VA - Saturday marked the final dual meet of 2016 for a Hollins swim team looking to make her mark against one of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's (ODAC) best teams. Emory & Henry came into the season picked to finish second in the ODAC Women's Swimming Preseason Poll.

Hollins and her short roster were no match for the heavily favored Wasps, falling to Emory & Henry, 143-32.

Maya Schattgen posted Hollins best finish of the afternoon when the sophomore earned runner-up honors in the 100 Backstroke. Schattgen also earned third place points in in the 100 Butterfly all after posting a 38.09 in the opening leg of the 200 Medley Relay. Debra Henke brought home fourth place points in the 100 Butterfly, just minutes after finishing fourth in the 200 Individual Medley. Alexandra Sanchez and Betzy Liriano each secured third place points. Sanchez earned her top 3 in the 200 Freestyle while Liriano finished third in the 400 Freestyle.

Hollins will enjoy a brief rest to enjoy Thanksgiving before wrapping up their first semester schedule with a trip to Randolph-Macon. Hollins will compete in the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational, December 2-3.
