Greensboro, NC -The Hollins swim team traveled to Greensboro for a tri-meet on Friday night. It was the first of back to back meets for a Hollins squad looking for their first victory of 2015. Hollins bested their hosts from Greensboro College, 93-86, while defeating their ODAC rivals from Guilford College, 110-77, to sweep the meet.
Hollins won registered two individual wins to go with five runner up and five, third place finishes during the 11 event meet. Hollins depth paid off as they secured 12 of the 33 top spots as well five of the nine fourth place finishes in the individual events.
Senior Meg O'Brien (Chattanooga, TN) won the longest event of the night when she touched almost one minute ahead of the field in the 1000 Freestyle. In the shortest event of the evening, the 50 Freestyle, Hollins once again secured first place points when first-year Betnahy Huss (Durham, NC) out dueled Maddie Peregoy of Guilford College for the .39 second victory. Huss added a runner up finish in the 100 Freestyle while O'Brien came in fourth in the 100 Backstroke.
Hayley Caulfeild-James (Willow Street, PA) recorded a pair of second place finishes, 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle, while adding third place points in the 50 Freestyle. Dani Raymond (Fredericksburg, VA) picked up third place points in both the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle and fellow first-year Aubrey Hobby (South Pittsburg, TN) finished third in the 200 Individual Medley, just besting teammate Kateri Peterson (Vinton, VA).
Hollins will waste no time trying to build off their momentum as the host Guilford College in a dual meet. The meet, originally scheduled to be a tri-meet with Frostburg but due to the weather and travel concerns the meet was rescheduled as a dual.
