Roanoke, VA - On the afternoon of a long-standing Hollins tradition, Tinker Day, Eastern Mennonite came to campus for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. The Royals set the tone by scoring just seconds after the start of play and Hollins struggled to gain much offensive zone time as the deep Royals bench, 28 different players saw action, pressured Hollins all afternoon long.

Just seconds after the opening whistle, Laura Rittenhouse scored the first of her two goals to get Eastern Mennonite on the board. The Hollins defense found her legs but the constant seige on the green and gold net saw two more scores in the opening stages of the matchup. After connecting on three of their first five shots on goal, the Royals were kept off the score board by a Hollins defense that would help keeper Kendra Rich make 11 first half stops. The visitors took a 3-0 lead late into the half before a final EMU score would make it 4-0 at the break. The home team would see her guests add two more scores in the first 15 minutes of the second frame. Hollins would get a couple of scoring chances, one in each half, but both times the Royal's keeper would record a save. A late score from long range would give Eastern Mennonite the 7-0 ODAC win.

Rich made 20 stops before exiting the match late and Audrey Haisley finish the final 11+ minutes while stopping the only shot on net. Trailing 3-0, Hollins got her first good chance of the afternoon, but the Callie Marhenke shot was stopped by Leah Wenger. In the second half, Miranda Springston was turned away in the match's final 10 minutes.

Rittenhouse led with two scores while Leigh Lumsden and Destiny Ritchie each added a goal and an assist with Rachel Sauder handing out a pair of helpers.

Hollins will head out on the road for a pair of ODAC games before finishing up the regular season with her annual showdown against arch rival Sweet Briar on October 28th.
